CircuitLab Installer

Published by CircuitLab

CircuitLab provides online, in-browser tools for schematic capture and circuit simulation. These tools allow students, hobbyists, and professional engineers to design and analyze analog and digital systems before ever building a prototype. Online schematic capture lets hobbyists easily share and discuss their designs, while online circuit simulation allows for quick design iteration and accelerated learning about electronics.

Students, Faculty, and Staff of the University of Maryland College Park (UMD) only. This can be installed on machines that are owned by the individual or the university.

Instructions

First-time CircuitLab users must visit https://www.circuitlab.com/accounts/register/ to create an account using their University email address (directory ID@umd.edu).

Installation Notes

There is no software to install for the cloud based application. You just need to point your browser to: https://www.circuitlab.com/

CircuitLab pushes the envelope on in-browser computation. Depending on your circuit, the simulator might be asked to solve hundreds or thousands of simultaneous non-linear equations. Your browser's Javascript engine performance will have a significant effect on your simulation performance.

CircuitLab also uses modern graphics techniques to allow for schematic editing and graphing in the browser. These techniques are only supported in newer browsers.

While they strive to support all modern standards-compliant web browsers, CircuitLab officially supports Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox. Although they are unable to officially support them at this time, our users report success with Apple Safari and Opera.
